I Do

I still hear the tin cans clanging in the air
The rearview mirror with your mother in tears
Your younger sister who caught the bouquet
Your father who didn’t want to give you away

That little white steepled church just down the road
You in your wedding dress as pure as snow
The echo of the preacher, the tears in the isle
The way that you cried when I said with a smile

I do more than any thing

I do for you
I give my life to you forever tied and true
I will my love to you
Forever I will be there
Oh, when it comes to you
I do I do

The way your chestnut hair has turn to gray
The lines that God has graced upon your face
Show all the love that we’ve been through
And even now when I look at you

CHORUS

And when my life comes to a close
I’ll still be glad it’s you I chose

CHORUS

Writer's comments:

I once was behind an old car coverd in dirt. On the back window there was faded letters "Just Married". This song came out out of that image in my mind. What was it like to look in the rearview mirror of that car and see such a thing? Was it a happy thing or a sad thing? I chose the happy thing.
